The preschoolers have been learning about life cycles. The one they are learning about now is the plant life cycle , so they are planting seeds to watch the life cycle happen. So fun!

The 8th grade science students were back in the lab on April 2nd having fun creating colorful swirls in milk.
The objective of the lesson ("Milk Rainbow") was to demonstrate the property of surface tension and the effect that soap, a surfactant, has on the surface tension of milk. When a drop of liquid dish soap (on a cotton swab) is added to milk, the surface tension of the milk is reduced. As this occurs, the fat (butterfat) and protein particles in the milk can move more freely and easily. This action can be seen as the food coloring swirls through the milk.
CONTENT TOPICS: Scientific inquiry; states of matter; properties of matter; attractive forces (surface tension); and mixtures (such as emulsions).

On March 26th, students went on a tour of State Fair Community College. They all had a great time.

Kindergarten enjoying the chicks.

More pictures of the preschoolers enjoying the chicks.

We can always tell when spring is here when the chicks start hatching! Preschool through third grade students got the chance to watch chicks hatch this week. Thanks to the MU extension office in Warrensburg, the classes were able to see the process of the chicks being incubated and hatching. Aren't they cute?

We are excited to announce there will be a Spring Elementary Program! Ms. Barnett and the elementary students have been working hard and cannot wait to show off what they learned. Please plan to join us Thursday, April 10th at 6 PM.

Reminder there is an elementary science club meeting today after school. If you have not turned a permission slip for your child but want them to stay please call the office and let Ms. Brandy know.

Exciting news! Kindergarten screening is just around the corner! Spots are filling up quickly, so be sure to contact the office to schedule an appointment for your future Kindergartener. We can't wait to welcome them!

Here are our game pictures from our last Student Assembly. We had an Oreo game where students had an Oreo on their head and they had to get it into their mouth without using their hands. We also played basketball musical chairs and dress to impress, where students dressed up and then walked down the runway to be scored by our judges. It was a lot of fun!

Here are pictures from our last Student Assembly where we recognized our January and February Student and Artists of the Month, our Volleyball team for their MSHSAA Scholarship Award for having a team GPA over 3.5, our Cross Country team for their MSHSAA Scholarship Award for having a GPA over 3.0, and our Little Indians players and cheerleaders and the 7-12th graders who went to the GVVC math relays.
