
School IS in session on Monday, April 3rd. All students are expected to be in school on Monday from 7:35-3:35, like a normal day. We will not have school on Good Friday, which is April 7th. We will see everyone on Monday!


Chilhowee JH Track competed at Holden MS Invitational yesterday. Our athletes participated in the shot put, long jump, triple jump, high jump and ran in the 100m, 200m, 400m. Holden Dean earned 3 points in the high jump clearing 1.50m. Their next meet is at Drexel on April 3rd.





Last week, the 3rd graders in Miss Frank's classroom were working on identifying and placing fractions on a number line correctly, including fractions greater than 1.








The Warrensburg Star Journal has released the 2022-2023 Basketball All-Johnson County awards. Three Chilhowee Indians have earned a spot on the All-Johnson County teams! (Sophomore) Alexis Miller 1st Team, {Senior) Asher Harness 2nd Team, and (Sophomore) Haley Lankford Honorable Mention. Congratulations to all! Four Chilhowee Basketball players bring home GVVC honors for the 2022-2023 Varsity Basketball season. Alexis Miller and Asher Harness were named GVVC 1st Team All-Conference, Haley Lankford was named GVVC 2nd Team All-Conference, and Hunter Wharton garnered GVVC All-Conference Honorable Mention. Congratulations to all for a job well done!


On Monday, March 21st, K-12th-grade students participated in another fun Science Club activity after school. Students learned about density! They had a great time.

Chilhowee Lady Indians bring home two Class 1 District 8 All District Basketball Honors! Congratulations to #20 Alexis Miller and #21 Haley Lankford for being named 2 of the top 10 players in a very tough District! In addition, Lexi was named GVVC 1st Team All-Conference and Haley was named GVVC 2nd Team All-Conference for the 2022-2023 season! Congratulations Ladies!



Miss Franks' 3rd-graders were hard at work becoming trainees at pizzerias on Friday, March 10th. They worked hard partitioning and making pizzas to order at different pizza-themed centers. Students love hands-on math and will remember fractions for years to come!











At our last student assembly on Friday, March 3rd, we celebrated our star students, February's Artists of the Month, Coach Buss' 50th win, our 5th/6th-grade boys' and girls' basketball players, and our junior high and varsity track members. After recognizing each group, they played a game to see who could "win." It was a great day to be a Chilhowee Indian!

Students in Mrs. Thornley's 7th-Grade class made flowers out of play dough. They built models of the parts of a flower as part of their plant science unit.










Last Thursday, March 9th, Geometry students learned how to make and use a clinometer, a device used to measure the angle of elevation of tall objects.





Mrs. Morris' 4th-6th graders celebrated Dr. Seuss's week with lots of reading around the classroom, and they did a Dr. Seuss author study.






20 years ago, the 2003 Chilhowee Lady Indians played for a Missouri State Title! They battled Bashear and fell short finishing 2nd in State. Tonight, they will be honored during halftime of the 2023 State Championship Game in Springfield for a 20th Anniversary tribute. Several 7th - 12th-grade students participated in the GVVC Math Relays today at Montrose. Congratulations to Caine McKinney and Duke Dobbs for placing 2nd place in the Geometry team relay!




Last night was our GVVC Spelling Bee at Ballard. Please congratulate our two students who placed in the spelling bee. Congratulations go to Madison Freeman for placing 2nd in 2nd grade. Congratulations also go to Hudson Busch for placing 3rd in 3rd grade.





Join us tomorrow for our Title 1/PTO Night on Wednesday, March 8th, at 5:30 p.m. in the school's learning commons. Enter through the doors of the district office. We will discuss our School-Parent-Student compact, Parent Involvement Policy, What Parents Need, and some future Family Night Ideas. We would love every parent to join us for this meeting!

The next Science Club is Tuesday, March 21st from 3:40-4:15 p.m. If your child wants to attend, please send the form back to school for them to attend, or you can email Mrs. Askew at caskew@chilhowee.k12.mo.us and let her know your child is staying and how they will be getting home.


Today is the Spelling Bee in Ballard. The bus will be leaving the school at 3:15. Students start in classrooms at 4:30. Final round begins around 6pm in the school gym.
