Students in Mrs. Thornley's 7th-Grade class made flowers out of play dough. They built models of the parts of a flower as part of their plant science unit.










Last Thursday, March 9th, Geometry students learned how to make and use a clinometer, a device used to measure the angle of elevation of tall objects.





Mrs. Morris' 4th-6th graders celebrated Dr. Seuss's week with lots of reading around the classroom, and they did a Dr. Seuss author study.






20 years ago, the 2003 Chilhowee Lady Indians played for a Missouri State Title! They battled Bashear and fell short finishing 2nd in State. Tonight, they will be honored during halftime of the 2023 State Championship Game in Springfield for a 20th Anniversary tribute. Several 7th - 12th-grade students participated in the GVVC Math Relays today at Montrose. Congratulations to Caine McKinney and Duke Dobbs for placing 2nd place in the Geometry team relay!




Last night was our GVVC Spelling Bee at Ballard. Please congratulate our two students who placed in the spelling bee. Congratulations go to Madison Freeman for placing 2nd in 2nd grade. Congratulations also go to Hudson Busch for placing 3rd in 3rd grade.

The next Science Club is Tuesday, March 21st from 3:40-4:15 p.m. If your child wants to attend, please send the form back to school for them to attend, or you can email Mrs. Askew at caskew@chilhowee.k12.mo.us and let her know your child is staying and how they will be getting home.


Today is the Spelling Bee in Ballard. The bus will be leaving the school at 3:15. Students start in classrooms at 4:30. Final round begins around 6pm in the school gym. Parents are welcome in the gym. Parents will be notified when we are headed back to school for pick up. Please call 660-678-4511 if you have any questions.

On Wednesday, February 22nd, various agencies across the Johnson County region came to our school for Career Day for all 7th-12th grade students in the gym.

We also had an FFA State Officer come on Thursday, February 23rd to talk to students.

The 7th-grade students put their math lesson to real-world application use last Friday, February 24th. They learned how to use indirect measurement to determine the heights of tall objects by measuring the height of a person and the shadows cast by the person and the tall object. The class discovered that the height of the light pole was about 33 feet tall.
