Today, our 7th and 8th Grade Current Issues class organized an exciting school-wide presidential mock election! Students from all grades had the chance to experience the democratic process firsthand, casting their votes and learning about civic engagement in a fun, interactive way. We’re proud of our students for taking on such a meaningful project and for everyone who participated—our future voters are off to a great start!

7th grade Science and 9th grade Biology recently conducted a photosynthesis lab using leaf disks from spinach leaves. 9th-grade Biology students are shown here experimenting. The students vacuumed the air out of the leaf disks with a syringe and replaced it with a solution, which caused them to sink. As photosynthesis proceeds, oxygen is released into the interior of the leaf, changing its buoyancy and causing the leaf disks to rise. The students recorded the number of disks floating vs. minutes to determine the rate of photosynthesis.
