On Friday, Trooper Medrano and Trooper Lautenschlager visited Chilhowee Elementary. Students learned about what the Highway Patrol does and got to see a patrol car up close. We really appreciate them taking the time to come and visit our school.

Today, Mrs. Rehn, Mrs. Dillon, Mrs. Gotsch and Ms. Brennaman took 45 students to the Hometown Convenience Store for their 4th quarter reward. 8th, 9th, 11th, and 12th graders all earned a trip to the store to purchase items as a reward for their attendance, behavior, and grades. Thank you to Mrs. Robin for letting us shop today!

Thank you to Journey to College presenter, Angela Rogers, for coming and talking to Juniors today about planning for college and how to pay for it. They learned about scholarships, work study, grants, and the FAFSA.

Thank you to State Fair Community College for dropping off these goodie bags to our Seniors/future Roadrunners! Best of luck with this next step, Freida Jones, Hailey Morris, Reagan White, and Jahmie Conner.

Summer school enrollment is open. Students who have not turned in a form yet are receiving a new copy today. Remember this is voluntary and supposed to be fun. Please return these as soon as possible if you are interested in having your student attend.

Preschoolers went to Kaleidoscope in Kansas City yesterday on their field trip. Lots of fun was had by all.

Today, Carol Hassler, from the Johnson County Retired School Personnel, came to present a $500 Harold and Ruth Young Scholarship to Ms. Alexis Barnett in recognition of her outstanding work in the classroom and her continued dedication to enhancing the learning of her students. This will be used to further her education at UCM. Congratulations to Ms. Barnett on this well-deserved honor! We are proud to have such a dedicated educator making a difference in the lives of our students each day.
