March 2018

The board of education met during the regular meeting on Wednesday March 21, 2018.  During the old business section of the meeting, the board discussed the Building Improvement project.  The project is going to go out for bid in April.  The delay has been the utilities as some uncertainty on the load and demands on the Propane system as well as the location of the sewer.  Mr. Marnholtz shared that the architects recommended holding $25,000 in contingency money in-case there is trouble locating the current sewer line and attaching the new line.  The 2018-2019 school calendar was discussed with no comments made during the public discussion period.  After changes were shared with the board, the 2018-2019 calendar was approved.  The last old business was the adoption of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.  The board approved the new plan for 2018-2020 based on the recommendation and discussion from the community meeting in January.  The plan will be evaluated annually.

The Meeting moved to the new business where the board approved the new salary schedule for certified staff, which added an additional row to the existing schedule to ensure that no staff members would be frozen.  The board later discussed and approved adding $250 to the base of the schedule as well as allowing the staff members appropriate movement on the schedule.  The board concluded the open section of the meeting by setting April 17, 2018 as the date of the April meeting to be able to reorganize the board within the two weeks following the April general election.   The meeting will be in the Library at 7:00 pm.
