The board met on Wednesday night February 20th for their regular scheduled meeting.  The board received a financial update from Mr. Marnholtz.  The district started January with $832,973.07 in the bank.  The revenue for the month was $594,729.60, with the largest amount coming from the local tax revenue from Johnson County.  The district expended $250,810.19 leaving $1,176,892.48 in the bank.  

The board approved the consent agenda, which included the program evaluations for Parents as Teachers, Guidance and Counseling, and Student Health Services.  The school agreed to a new memorandum of understanding with the Missouri Valley Community Action Agency for Head Start services and support for Early Childhood services.  The district is due for an inspection for asbestos, so the district agreed to have ROTH environmental services do the building inspection for asbestos.  

The board received communications and cookies from the Warrensburg Area Career Center as part of board recognition month.  All board members received a certificate of appreciation from the Missouri School Boards Association for their dedicated service to the school and community.  

The business part of the meeting started with old business related to the building improvements and an update on progress for the building.  The current projected completion date for the building is February 28th.  The district at this point has spent approximately $720,000 on the building project.  

The board approved moving the March meeting to Monday March 18th so that it is not in the middle of spring break.  The meeting will be held at the regular time of 7:00 pm and will be located in the new library.  

As part of the new business portion of the meeting, the board was presented the first draft of the 2019-2020 school calendar.  The new calendar has gone away from 1/2 day in-services and has built in 8 full day professional development days into the calendar.  The change to the school calendar regulations has allowed the district to shorten the school year as the State does not require schools to go by days any longer, only hours of attendance.  This allows the district to build a calendar with 166 days rather than the previously required 174.  The projected start date for school is August 14, 2019 with an end date of May 15, 2020.  The board will hold a public forum to discuss the proposed calendar during the March Meeting.  

The board discussed the members who will serve on the Wilma Hill Scholarship committee and Wendell Jackson and Matt Arne.  The committee will review the senior applicants to decide who will receive the scholarship from the school and PTO.  

Mr. Marnholtz presented the preliminary budget figures for the FY20 budget.  The current estimation has the district receiving $2,097,387 and expending $2,113,369.  This estimation is based of projected figures from the state on revenue expectations.  This budget will be updated prior to formal approval in June.  

The board approved the job description for an instructional coach and assistant principal position.  This position was approved during the January meeting and will replace the Title teaching position to support all instructional activities at the school.  The position will be advertised and qualified applicants interviewed this spring.  A copy of the job description can be obtained at the district office.

The district received bids for updating our security system.  This was done to include the new addition into the system.  The board approved the bid from Martin Security Systems from Sedalia Missouri.  

The district is in need of changing financial management software as the current provider is no longer going to operate after 2020.  The district received bids from three companies and selected Tyler SISfin as the program.  The transition to the new system will occur sometime prior to June of 2020.  The district will also seek bids for changing our student information system as it will also be phased out after 2020.  

The board held executive session after the regular meeting to hear a legal update and discuss personnel.
