The Board of Education met on Wednesday October 17th @ 7:00 pm. During the meeting the board heard the financial report from Mr. Marnholtz. The District received $120,818.71 in September, expended $176,459.42 which left $1,320,462,.97 in the district accounts.
The board heard the principal report and superintendent reports. The enrollment for the district declined this past month to 177 students.
The board heard in the old business an update on the building project. The building was on track and getting ready for the steel posts and beams to start. The projected completion is still slated for early to mid January.
During the new business part of the meeting, the board heard from Mr. John Gillum (district auditor). The district is in compliance and no findings were found in respect to our financial and reporting documents. The audit was approved to be submitted to DESE.
The board discussed the MSBA conference and shared information about sessions and items learned during the conference.
The board approved updating policy IGCE and adding the new policy IGCD. These policies were updated and written to meet the changes to the graduation handbook from DESE as well as to align the new statutory requirement of offering virtual instruction options.
The board heard from Mr. Marnholtz on the update to the timeline on the release of the annual performance report from the DESE. The best timeline that is being given from the department is the APR will be released in late January or early February.
The board provided guidance to Mr. Marnholtz on writing a letter of interest to the Western Missouri Conference on possibly joining an 8-man football division. If the WEMO conference creates the 8-man division and we an invitation is received the board will review for approval at a later date.
The board discussed the option of providing to staff members who do not take the district insurance funds equal to the board paid insurance. The board decided to make no changes to the practice of providing no additional options besides the current offerings.
The board held an executive session for personnel matters.
The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday November 20, 2018 at 7:00 pm.
